Towards the end of 2019, beginning of 2020, I decided to get back into recording music again after a decade off. To start, I looked backwards to my Catalog of songs I had written, but never recorded.

All of these songs were recorded in Seattle the fall before through the spring of the start of the 2020 pandemic using Garageband. It was a pleasure collaborating with first time producer and rhythm expert T.K. Anomie. The attention to detail and sonic awareness was a unique experience, and the songs shine because of that.

This is not the first time I had looked backwards in my catalog when recording new songs (my second record Thinking Back, released in 2002, is largely songs from this same songwriting era), but this is the biggest gap in songwriting to production that I have done.

These songs were written approximately between 1996 and 2002 in New York and New Jersey throughout high school and college. There's a lot more songs in the catalog, and this potentially could be the first of many Catalog records from this period of time.

The painting was originally created in high school art class, where I learned to play a right handed guitar upside down, and posed for my friend Paul, who needed a subject to paint. After sketching me and beginning to paint, he decided quickly that he got the nose wrong, so he scrapped it, and I reclaimed the work, painting the rest in.

The semi-self portrait mostly stayed in the closet as part of the catalog of art created, but never shared. With an added pun doodles / lyric art by ctrl_art_delete, it's finally ready for its own album cover. Now it's out in the world, along with these Catalog of songs from the era.
