Standing Like The Tree In The Field

lyrics

Like the righteous bloom of the date palm
Like the strength of the cedars of Lebanon
Like the willow wisps, or the palm fronds
I’m still standing like the tree in the field

While war wages on, I don’t know where I’ve gone
Or where I’ll be, but I know that truly
If we siege the city and bomb all of the trees
We leave no trace, no fruit to eat

Like the righteous bloom of the date palm
Like the strength of the cedars of Lebanon
Like the willow wisps, or the palm fronds
I’m still standing like the tree in the field

For when the dust has settled, and man has turned to dust
We look at what’s been destroyed, and what we had that’s lost
We see the city left behind, and the trees barren from bombs
Will there be a fruit to flourish, will there be life living on?

Like the righteous bloom of the date palm
Like the strength of the cedars of Lebanon
Like the willow wisps, or the palm fronds
I’m still standing like the tree in the field
